Deck the Halls Open House

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Concordia’s Tourism Partners are banding together to present “Deck the Halls” a holiday event of open houses on Saturday, December 3rd from 9am-12pm. This joint effort has been created to boost local attendance at all of Concordia’s tourism attractions, including: The Brown Grand Theatre, The National Orphan Train Complex, The Cloud County Historical Society Museum, POW Camp Concordia, The Nazareth Convent Gift Shop, Concordia’s Broadway Plaza, and Cloud County Tourism.

Each venue will have a variety of refreshments, photo booths, door prizes, shopping, and tours. Everyone who visits even one attraction will be entered to win a $100 Chamber Bucks gift certificate that will be drawn for at the Cloud County Tourism Office the day of the event at 1:00pm (sponsored by the Concordia Chamber of Commerce). Each attraction may have additional ways to gain entries for the Chamber Bucks drawing! More specifically, each venue will include the following:

BROWN GRAND OPERA HOUSE (310 W 6th Street) – Will be open to the public and will have goodies, photo ops on stage, a donation tree to support the Theatre, and additional entries for the Chamber Bucks drawing for every $10 spent on Brown Grand merchandise.

THE NATIONAL ORPHAN TRAIN COMPLEX (300 Washington) – Will be free and open to the public! Stop by and take part in the festivities! There will be new displays to see, treats to eat, and chances to win $100 in Chamber Bucks and a gift from the NOTC gift shop. Best of all, SANTA will be here!

THE CLOUD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM (635 Broadway) – Kids can create a melted snowman cookie and have their portraits taken in our Christmas bakery themed photo booth!

NAZARETH CONVENT GIFT SHOP (1300 Washington) – Will have their gift shop open and stocked with Christmas décor and gift ideas for all. This will be an open house for the gift shop only – the rest of the Motherhouse will not be open. Please come to the main entrance on the west drive.

CONCORDIA’S BROADWAY PLAZA (6th and Broadway) – Will be offering a fun treat of chocolate dipped peppermint marshmallows!

POW CAMP CONCORDIA (will be represented at the Cloud County Tourism Office – 130 E 6th) – Stop in at the Cloud County Tourism office to learn more about POW Camp Concordia. The Camp is now closed for the season, but you can stop in to learn more about this incredible historic site.

CLOUD COUNTY TOURISM (130 E. 6th) – The Tourism office will be your one stop for POW Camp Concordia, The Whole Wall Mural, and Cloud County Tourism. Be sure to stop in, learn a bit about POW Camp Concordia and the Whole Wall Mural, eat some yummy treats, enjoy our photo ops, and grab some unique local gifts!

Cloud County Tourism Director Susie Haver says, “We are thrilled to have all our attractions coming together to host this event for our community. Often times, we hear of people who have lived in Concordia for years and have not visited them. This is the perfect chance to stop in, support local, shop local, and get in the holiday spirit of giving back.”

We all invite you to be a tourist in your own hometown. Check out all of our incredible attractions during our “Deck the Halls” event. To learn more about the “Deck the Halls” event, please call Melissa Swenson, Brown Grand Theatre Director at (785) 243-2553.
