At the Albion Town Hall at 620 Albion Rd., Albion, WI – on behalf of the Albion Academy Historical Society
In this presentation, Mr. Kidder brings to light his expertise and family connection to the orphan trains. Between 1854 and 1929, nearly 150,000 children were transported from New York City to the homes of farm families in almost every state, particularly in the Midwest. Kidder tells the story of his paternal grandmother – the late Emily (Reese) Kidder, who was brought to the Midwest in 1906 on an orphan train. He will read from his new book, Emily’s Story: The Brave Journey of an Orphan Train Rider as he shows numerous historical and family photos in a PowerPoint presentation.
